East London – Stopping Starmer: How we confront Austerity 2.0
Keir Starmer’s insistence on attacking the most vulnerable in society is a continuation of Tory austerity policies. Cutting winter fuel payments for the elderly, maintaining the two-child benefit cap, refusing to adequately fund the NHS or housing are political choices, not economic necessities.
Labour is attacking working people instead of taxing the rich or cutting spending on the military and weapons for Israel and Ukraine.
To discuss the reality of austerity 2.0 and, importantly, how we can fight back, East London Counterfire is holding this public meeting on Tuesday 24th September. The meeting will be introduced by John Rees, historian and author and a leading member of the People’s Assembly Against Austerity. Come along and join the discussion!
