‘The more we strengthen socialist organisation, the more power we wield to create something better for us all’

The impact of Trump’s new world disorder continues to send reverberations around the world. Ahead of his much touted meeting with Trump later this week, Starmer’s response has been to announce that he will substantially increase UK military spending to 3% of GDP.

This equates to £13.4 billion pounds every year. Some of this will come from reducing the international aid budget and it will mean more public sector cuts and higher taxes on working people as he promotes war over welfare. 

And that means we urgently need to build a stronger left here to organise resistance to these measures that will increase the burden and hardship already experienced by millions of people across the country. 

That’s why Counterfire urgently needs to raise £25,000 to expand our campaigning work, keep our popular newspaper free, hire more staff and put on more political meetings.
