The New Scramble For Africa looks beyond the humanitarian rhetoric and examines the geo-strategic motives of the Western powers in Africa
With the French invasion of Mali in January this year a new front opened up in the ongoing ‘War On Terror’. The pretext for invasion was a familiar story of ‘terrorist insurgents’ and ‘ungovernable spaces’. Drawing parallels with the period of late-nineteenth century colonial expansionism, ‘The New Scramble For Africa‘ looks beyond the humanitarian rhetoric and examines the geo-strategic motives of the Western powers in Africa.
