Sparks blocked traffic outside Kings Cross station in central London and occupied the station concourse. Dozens more mounted a picket at the entrance to the Commonwealth Games cycling arena in Glasgow – one of the highest profile construction sites in the country.
Union officials reported 1500 men from inside Lindsey Oil Refinery attended one impromptu gate meeting. Hundreds more attended meetings at other gates and outside the Conoco plant.
